Operation Backpack®
Operation Backpack® is our initiative to fill in the gap for our region’s most vulnerable children. Now through September 1, 2023, your donations will help us provide backpacks, school supplies and funding for academic enrichment to more than 3,000 homeless and underprivileged children in Maryland, the District of Columbia, Virginia and North Carolina. Together, we can help ensure these children achieve success despite their circumstances.
Our 2023 Operation Backpack® goal is to raise $50,000 to support even more kids in need.
Supplies are provided to students from low-income families in our programs as well as partnering Title 1 schools.
**NEWS FLASH**
We have over 40 supply drive partners this year – a record number! At this stage in the campaign, we will not be accepting new partners. However, if you are a company/organization looking for a way to make an impact while engaging your team, you can still help!
Operation Backpack® is more than a supply drive campaign.
We know that academic success can’t be achieved by providing school supplies alone. Kids and their families have needs throughout the year that impact how well a child does in school and beyond.
You can be the hope a young boy or girl needs to realize their full potential by starting a fundraising team on our JustGiving page. Set your own goal and work with your colleagues, friends and family to reach it. Your dollars will help to provide year-round support including . . .
- after school learning opportunities
- gift cards for school uniforms so kids always have clean clothes for learning
- grocery store gift cards so children have nutritious food for growing minds
- gas cards so struggling parents can transport their children to opportunities

This event is brought to you by Volunteers of America Chesapeake & Carolinas, IKEA College Park, ABC7 News DC, F.H. Furr and the Prince George's County Sheriff's Office.
